The original film got by on its raw intensity alone, an element of the original film that was helped immensely by its low budget, which gave it an almost-documentary-style feel to it. In 1980, it was picked up for distribution by the Jerry Gross Organization. It goes on and on. He takes the groceries and a knife.
Now, with hell bent vengeance, Jennifer's sole purpose is to turn the tables on these animals and to inflict upon them every horrifying and torturous moment they carried out on her - only much, much worse. Storch takes Jennifer back to the cabin, but when he finds her drugs and alcohol, he assaults her too. Matthew is friends with the other three men and reports back to them about the beautiful woman he met, claiming that he saw her breasts. It was meant to shock, horrify, and provoke strong reactions and discussions. Well, movie critic Roger Ebert gave the film no stars and has been behind efforts to have the film both banned and blacklisted. Monroe directed, with newcomer starring as Jennifer.
And even the most obnoxious character is cognizant of his seemingly predetermined fate in this world, pausing amidst the chaos in order to fantasize about an escape to New York City, where it will be easier to start over in anonymity. I was more ready to believe that, while it doesn't get any better for Jennifer Hills after what she endured in the first installment, events would be triggered for a different set of reasons: namely, law enforcement's inefficiency, excessive bureaucracy and stereotyping. More over, what connection do they have to the rapists? Because revenge is not the actual point of the film so the half effort is not remotely surprising. It would be as if the point of dark humor was not to be humorous at all but simply to be dark.
The film spawned a 2010 , which has since spawned two sequels of its own: 2013 , and 2015. The film barely went for 65 minutes, and received extremely negative reviews from critics and fans alike. Imitation is the greatest flattery I've been told so there's that. She then hangs him alive and drops his body into the lake. There are the quirkier characters, off-beat soundtrack selections, and a steady tension building pace. All the major players in this picture are bound by fate.
But this is certainly not a film without merit. There is no attempt to develop the personalities of the characters - they are, simply, a girl and four men, one of them mentally retarded. All subsequent releases of the film have received similar cuts. This is not an easy film to watch.
